Quality tuna for supper after my visit to a wonderful canned fish shop in Lisbon. The picture below is the tiny window display in a shop for true fish connoisseurs. My cat now wants to relocate to Portugal : )

For the readers of the fairer sex this image could be instantly recognisable. But take a closer look...

For those of you that don’t frequent the “Ladies” it's an image often associated with disposal bags for sanitary wear. Why we have to ask ourselves is the image looking rather manly? Or rather, a ‘Little Britain’ character in drag.

Did someone in ‘phs’ get bored on a Friday afternoon and change the print run or is it a new range for this world of equal opportunities?

A fantastic meat counter in the Lisbon food market, all the butchers in the market have great bull statues. I wonder if it helps with the sales?

Graffiti Grrrls

There’s something about stencilled Graffiti that I really love. Often it is political, humorous, sharp and sometimes downright bonkers but it always makes me stop, take its photo and wonder who made it.

In Wein I think I saw the two girls in this stencil. Being a bit of an old romantic I hope they did spray it. Together they looked happy, crazy in love with each other and full of life.

Happy Hand Towels In Wien

These happy hand towel dispensers seem to be all over the Museum Quarter in Wien, I’m not sure if they were intentional or it’s just my childlike sense of humour that sees the smile? I did get some very funny looks filming my hand making all the towel dispensers smile in the toilets but more about that later ; )

'Dolly Blue' took time out from sailing the High Seas to email this lovely heart for the collection. It was found in cement/plaster on the wall of the ancient Venetian fort at Corfu.

In Wien the show we were transporting was part of a rather fabulous Arts Festival that used images of Mozart and Freud. In each show the audience was given an inflatable Freud. Freud during the drive decided he didn't fancy Lisbon and made a run for it from the lorry when both windows were down (outside temp 36°C) somewhere before the Portuguese border.

There's Gnome Place Like Home even in Contempary Art!

My little European tour with Lampy has started in Wien and has turned into an interesting Gnome Spotting experience. I think Gomes could be the next up and coming thing in Art.

I visited the Museum Moderner Kunst today and discovered a work by Cesar Meta-Harmonie created in the 1960s as part of the Nouveau Realisme Movement and guess what was right inside it? You got it a Gnome! See Pic. Sorry about the quality but I had to sneak it on the mobile : )

Earlier this week in Wien I went into a rather expensive designer jeweller and what did I see? A very expensive necklace (97€) with a jewel encrusted Gnome centre stage. So for all you Gnome lovers out there. Watch Out, your Gnome could be Gnome Knapped by an up and coming contempary artist!

Bargain Love Pants

One of my favorite phases is “Pants’ often used to describe something that has gone wrong or the polite expletive before “oh for XXXXX sake” and then you really know I’m mad about something. I’m rambling so I’ll get to the point; this week has been a week full of pants of one reason or another.

A Friday Challenge...

I’m a bit of a keen mobile phone ‘texter’ to say the least and have even been know to coin the phrase ‘My Text Family’ about those whom I speak regularly to via text. I won’t bang on just now why I think text, photo messaging and mobile video are so fantastic but suffice to say I'm way more creative using my phone as it’s always with me and my play pals are always one text away!

So over the last few weeks I’ve have started to post daily photographs to the ‘Text Family’, so today’s photograph is a bit of a challenge to the family. The ‘Text Family’ got the image plus the following instruction:

Well my dears, today’s picture I think is a Crime Scene. Death by banana, with the only evidences the skin and a woolly glove. Free feel to write a humorous short story of death. Answers by email or text!

The first one off the mark was Surfing Babe in less than 15 minutes, so her winning honor is that her short text story gets posted tonight! Will keep you posted re. the rest of the family’s responses.

Home is were you begin a journey but also your destination. Its definition may change as you change. Home may not be your place of abode. It may not be the physical structure in which you live. Perhaps it's a place you mentally retreat to, a childhood dream, a sight, smell, or touch. An urban leap from the sprawling metropolis. A wholesome, hearty retreat. In baseball, a home run is returning to where you started. Just click those ruby slippers and repeat - 'there's no place like home, there's no place like home' and you're back where you belong. No matter how far away you roam, home is what you carry inside yourself, an invisible umbilical cord you cannot cut, a dream, aspiration, that formulates who you are. It's what you make of it that counts.
